Health care and freedom

Saw Sicko a few days back. I was appalled to find out about Guantanamo bay criminal health state compared to the rest of the US. I know that a lot of people from around the world visit India each year to be treated for cheap at the hospitals. The movie showed the same is true of Cuba.

The benefits in France - are simply amazing! I could not get over the maternity leave and support from the government for the same in UK.

What the movie said about freedom is being reiterated from my previous posts "... choice depends on the freedom to choose. If you're shackled with debt, you don't have the freedom to choose... There are two ways in which people are controlled. First of all, frighten people, and secondly, demoralize them... The top 1% of the world's population own 80% of the world's wealth. It's incredible that people put up with it, but they're poor, they're demoralized, they're frightened. And therefore, they think that, perhaps the safest thing to do is to take orders and hope for the best."

Reminded me of the XFiles quote and ironically, at the same time, of the hope quote.

Waiting for superman specifically reminds everyone not to wait for superman. It urges us to be the change we want to see.

Time to putting my thinking hat on...
